It will out perform anything in its class. You should have no problems 12 gallons of fuel and two @ 190#. Legal is another thing. Gross is 1320#.
Manifold pressure is power. I believe 24" equals 75% power.

Re: New Toy
You will like it. My first 10 hours were in a CA with a C-85 on 1320 floats. Irv Woodhams at Austin Lake converted quite a few to the C-85. Irv al ways flew by manifold pressure. It took me a while to figure out that when he told me to run the engine at 24 He wanted 24" of manifold pressure not...

Re: Pre-War Chief On EDO 60-1320 Floats
I have a 50-L with a 65 lycoming. the only thing to compare it with on the airport are a Cub and a 7-AC. It is faster than the cub with a A-65 but has not been flying since the 7-AC has been here. I hope to have the rebuild done this year. Then I will be able to compare the performance. Then I can f...

Re: Pre-War Chief On EDO 60-1320 Floats
Robert Your right 1320# gross. If you can check the 337 for the engine upgrade the one 85-12 was more than likely done by Irv or based on his 337. The secret to the performance in Irv's Chief's is He kept them light. If it didn't have to be there is wasn't. No award winning paint job. Check the fire...

Re: Pre-War Chief On EDO 60-1320 Floats
My first 9 hours were in a SCA with a C-85. The 50, 65-SC, 50,65 & 95-SLA have a gross weight of 1250#, The 65-SCA & SLB have a gross weight of 1350#. The will out perform the post war with equal HP. Irving Woodhams used the Pre-war for training in the CPT program in WWII, He didn't care for...

Re: 65 LB
Shorty
You should not have any problems changine to a Continental A-65. The LB (A-702) and the CA (A-675) are different T.C.'s. They are the same airplane aft of the firewall.
I have a 65-LB that I am install a C-85 while rebuilding.
