Tensioning tail brace wires

The manual says the tail brace wires need to be tensioned to 350 to 450 lbs.
How do you do this?

Re: Boot cowl for Champ, free, usable as a pattern only

Just curious, why the name "boot cowl"?

Re: Wing X or Foreflight

I use an iPad 2 with Foreflight and really like it. Don't use a mount.

Re: Tube question

Have you tried using nitrogen instead of air? I know, one is free and the other inconvenient, but nitrogen seems to not leak out of my tires.

Re: Tow (tail?) Bar

Sounds like a plan! I'm in Cedar Rapids and as soon as my stab is repaired (and heat muff installed) we'll get together. Dave (319-360-0029)

Re: Tow (tail?) Bar

Mystery of the cold ride uncovered! No heat muff on the left stack, duh! Opened up the right cowl to check oil, etc. but for some reason never looked under the left cowl, too excited with the new machine I guess. I see new muffs are available from Wag Aero. Are hangers, or something similiar, needed...

Re: Tow (tail?) Bar

Finally got the airplane home today. Weather and schedule complications conspired to delay the delivery flight. Definately going to be looking for ways to improve the cabin heat and door seal, please don't tell me it's a hopeless cause! Recommendations are requested. I'd post a couple pictures but h...

Re: Tow (tail?) Bar

Neat! I'll be sure to post some pictures, soon as I figure out how....Weather could interfere next week but I am hopeful. Going to be a 2 day trip, got hangar space reserved in Henderson, KY, for the night. That's just across the Ohio river from Evansville, IN. Going to add a lot of cross-country ti...

Tow (tail?) Bar

New Champ owner, pick up airplane next week. Just wondering what the experienced pilots here recommend, seller uses a power winch in his hangar. $100 for a Bogert Bar or $400 for a Tailwheel Transporter is more than Santa wants to spend! Thanks

Re: Champ fuselage bulkheads

Asked the Museum about the CD ROM and received the following. $35 to join and free download of all the documents seems like a pretty reasonable price. The CD you are referring to only had drawings. That CD is no longer available. The online Museum archive actually has much more information than the ...

Re: Champ fuselage bulkheads

I'm a new member and owner and this CD sounds like a good addition to the aircraft file. Could you please tell me where I could get one? Thanks

Re: Fiberglass Covering?

My education continues, thanks! Found a different airplane, recovered in 1994 with "Stits Poly-Fiber" according to the 337. 2 coats of varnish on the wood and enamel on the frame. Pre-buy scheduled for next week so perhaps an early Christmas present?

Re: Fiberglass Covering?

Thanks guys for helping with my education! This forum is such a great resource for neophytes like me. Now if I can just locate a reasonably priced nice one, Christmas is coming maybe I'll get lucky.
