Re: O-290 Conversion
Engine mounts were fine. Needed an inch or two more on upper cowl to nosebowl. Mags & lightweight starter switched over, as did exhaust. Needed new carb. I took the opportunity to add a lightweight alternator.

Re: O-290 Conversion
The O-320 is an excellent upgrade. I replaced the O-290 in my 7GC 3 years ago and wished I had done it long ago, instead of overhauling the O-290. I have not noticed any significant increase in fuel consumption, but there is a substantial increase in rate of climb.

Re: Nashville Area Rental?
Thanks, I'll be checking them out. I noticed a couple places on-line that advertise Cessna 150 rental at $85. The tailwheel place in Lebanon requires 10 hours dual in type to rent solo. I've run into that before on tailwheel rental, and it's too much $$ for the time I'll be there.

Nashville Area Rental?
I'll be spending some time in Nashville this winter and am interested in renting a plane on weekends. Tailwheel preferred, but will be happy with nosewheel. Would also prefer small airport away from the city. Any recommendations?

Re: Rear Control Stick Cover
You can make an aluminum box to fit over the socket and hole in the floor, and screw it down to the floorboard. I don't have a picture of mine right now, but it's a great mod, opens up a lot of floor. You won't worry about things interfering with the stick or the socket.

Re: GC to GCA conversion
I put an O-320 in my 7GC last year, 160 hp. I have a 337, if I could figure out how to get it uploaded.
Biggest advantage (in addition to getting rid of orphan engine) is rate of climb significantly improved.

Re: Crosswind--Wheel or 3-point
Dusty, was that breaking through a crust, or just really deep snow? I've been there with really deep snow that got soft on a warm day. Shovel & snowshoes. I think I'm getting too old for that! So far, I haven't been caught in overflow (knock on wood).

Don't have the prints, but do have access to a set for template if necessary. I was hoping, in the interest of time/efficiency to quickly buy a set, as the engine will be ready to install shortly. Should have done this search before, but our thought was that O-290 baffles could be readily adapted to...

Engine Baffles Wanted
Need a set of engine baffles for an O-320 conversion. Baffles from a 7GCA, 7GCB, 7GCAA, 7GCB will work. Anyone know of a source? Also looking for an engine breather tube.

I just got a pair of 26 in Airstreaks from Bushwheel to replace my Goodyear 26s. Hope to have them put on in the next few days. The Goodyears have worked fine, but I feel I need more flexible tires for some of the landing spots. I thought about going to 29 in, but decided 26 would be adequate and I ...

Haven't heard anything on the STC. As far as cost, 5 years ago it was $800 for the basic gear, $150 for powdercoating, $100 for safety cables. Then add in the supercub hydrosorb units - $1300 for a new pair with bungees, less if you can find a serviceable used set. Installation is a few hours. It's ...
